A holiday for Billy

My cousin Billy is having a sleepover at our place tonight.

My Crazy Cousin!

I hope he isn't this crazy when it is actually bed time!

Edited to add - We had so much fun during the afternoon that by 6.30pm, Billy was so exhausted that he was sound asleep in the study so I had my own bed all to myself.  I was pretty tired too so I went to bed super early too! x

Sundays in my City #9 - Not going to plan

A long weekend in Australia is the perfect opportunity to get out and about with the kids and have some fun.  For the first time in what felt like forever we had a weekend with no sport and no training obligations at all.  The only plans we had were to look after my gorgeous little God son on the Saturday night.  The theory was that we would have a quiet day on Saturday, pottering around the house but then on Sunday we would go exploring.  The weather was predicted to be fairly decent, well at least not raining or freezing, so we were thinking that we would even find somewhere to stay overnight and really explore somewhere new.  That was the plan but like all good plans, they seem to get turned upside down.

The reality was that we did spend Saturday pottering about and then the rest of the day was spent playing with a gorgeous little bub.  I didn't expect to get much sleep Saturday night, what with having a 7 month old who doesn't sleep through the night the house, but surely that wouldn't be too bad.  When the beautiful bub did eventually fall asleep for the night, he only woke once.  Unfortunately though, I had the lack of sleep trifecta - a waking baby, followed by insomnia and then a sick child.  I managed to only doze for a an hour or so with my night being spent re-settling the baby, cleaning up vomit and calming a sick child.

Needless to say, with the extreme of lack of sleep, I was in no state to do any exploring on Sunday.  In fact AJ and I barely moved from the couch all day long.  Instead of photos of awesome adventures, I have photos of a beautiful bub and my beautiful girl.

I was so grateful that my beautiful girl loves him almost as much as I do and was happy to help out.

Sundays in my City #7 - Exhausted

So it is time for a post highlighting Sundays in my City where I get to show pictures of our adventures in and around our awesome city.  Of course in a typically mad week here that included ice hockey games, hikes, high school reunions, soccer games, sleep overs and all manner of crazy, the only photos that were taken were of the soccer game.  Now for fear that I will be perceived as a Soccer Mum I didn't want to post more soccer photos here (Yes I know I am a Soccer Mum and I will post the pics, just not here - they have their own page!) I was about to dig through the archives and find photos of recent adventures to post when I hear, "Come check this out, oh and bring your camera!)  Not knowing what I would find, I crept upstairs, fearing that I would stumble upon a spider or some other creepy crawly.  Instead this is what I found.

Thank you for coming to the rescue Princess George and providing me a photo for Sundays in my City.

I survived camp :-)

Well I am exhausted from a weekend at camp.   It was good to know that AJ was there but even better to knowing that he had his own friends and that they would be too busy doing heaps of cool things that they wouldn't annoy me!

I had a ball playing on the beach, hanging out with friends, making new friends and sleeping in a tent.  I had so much fun that I want to know when the next camp is.  I think that mum wanted to get photos of me after camp but I was too tired and filthy.  I tried to have a shower but I don't really like cold water showers.  I would love to write more about the fun of camp but mum promised that if I have a rest this afternoon she will take me out for a surprise tonight so I am off to bed!

Apparently jet lag is when you are in living in one part of the world but your body thinks it lives in another and so it doesn't know if it should be awake or asleep.  I felt jet lagged for the first time ever this morning.  Of course I was super tired yesterday after all the travel we did so I was able to fall asleep at proper bed time, around 8 or so the problem was waking up in the middle of the night and not being able to get back to sleep.  I ended up watching some really trashy TV until mum woke up at 4.30 and declared that Jerry Springer really isn't a kids show and sent me back to bed!

AJ was a bed hog so I didn't want to get back into our bed, so I curled up on the couch for another hour or so of sleep but that was it.  AJ was still asleep and mum was starting to get grumpy, I think she was getting jet lagged too.  I was too wide awake to stay in bed so I went for breakfast with dad.  (Note to self:  Just because all the American folk I know love waffles, it doesn't mean they are nice!)

Mum and AJ were still sleeping when we went back to our room so Dad and I went for a walk to let them get some more sleep, I really didn't like the thought of spending the day with grumpy folks!  We also figured we could explore a bit and pick up some fruit to snack on as we were out, as well as trying to find a pre-paid data sim for the iPad so we can go geocaching.  We had no luck with the data sim - apparently you need to have a US credit card AND mailing address to get one but we did find some fruit.  We stocked up on bananas to munch on cos they were only 60c a pound!  (Sure I don't really know what a pound is, but they sounded pretty darn cheap and were delicious.)

I am pretty sure that if we didn't wake mum and AJ when we made it back to the hotel, they would have slept the day away.  Instead we rushed them downstairs for breakfast so that we could go out and explore for the day.

I just hope that after waking up so early today that I will have the energy to keep going all day long.  Next stop, a swim before walking to Legoland.

Rainbow Road

So I know that AJ said we didn't have anything to do this weekend, what he really meant to say was that we didn't have any kid parties or things to do this weekend. Instead we had a grown up party to go to. Now at some of the grown up places we go to there is nothing for the kids to do. We were really lucky at this party, there was Wii to play and that kept AJ busy and happy. I was even luckier I had a box of chalk to decorate the garden pavers.
I had a great afternoon decorating the rainbow road.

I think dad had a pretty good afternoon too.

I think that all parties should have a box of chalk and somewhere for dad to sleep!

All Worn Out

After such a late night last night and waking up kind of early this morning, I was thinking that I would have a quiet day relaxing at home and maybe playing some Wii.  My plans were thrown out of the window pretty quickly - we were having visitors come over for lunch.

I did spend a lot of the day playing Wii with Tiger and Will (not just the Tiger Will, but Little William who is soon to be a big brother, but that is another story for another day!)  Anyway, as well as playing Wii and running up and down the stairs to play Lego and racing cars I was even more exhausted by the end of the day.

I was too tired to eat a real dinner, instead I went to bed early.
I think Licia must have been exhausted from hiding from us all day that she went to bed too!

Do you think she likes me now?

Hot, Hotter, Hottest

Well apparently we are in the heat wave of a century.  I don't really know what a century is, but I know that it is really, really hot.

It is so hot that the chocolate chips that are in the cupboard to make AJ's birthday cake have all melted and we haven't even started cooking.

It is so hot that the floating candles in the bowl on the table melted!

It is so hot that the only place to sleep comfortably is in mum and dad's study on the sofa bed, right under the air conditioner.

I hope that where ever you are, you aren't melting.

Sleep Over

Well we both asked really, really nicely and guess what, Amelia was allowed to sleep over.

We went to bed early, but stayed up extra late talking and laughing.  AJ was getting annoyed at how noisy we were, we were so noisy that he had to shut his door for some peace and quiet.

Although we stayed up late, we still woke up early to play together.  We even went park hopping in the afternoon.

I hope that Amelia can come and have more sleep overs during the holidays.

OUCH!

Last night I fell out of bed.  'Not a big deal' I hear you say.  Well it is a bit of a big deal when you are sleeping in the top bunk and when you fall out you land face first into a pile of lego that is on your display table, bounce off that and land on the ground on even more lego!

Luckily I didn't break anything more major than a few lego city constructions.  I did however manage to get a pretty awesome lego imprint on my forehead, grazes to my lip and chin, a scratch on my neck and grazes on my chest, tummy and hips.
Other than that I only have a few lumps, bumps and bruises!

Perhaps I should put my lego somewhere else.

Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot

Well it is a really hot night and AJ keeps turning the air conditioner off.
I decided it was more comfortable to sleep at the bottom of the stairs on the middle floor.
What do you think?
