You would think that having 2 kids of her own that mum would know that when there is a little kid in the house and the house is quiet, their is a fair chance that trouble is brewing.

Edited to add - We had so much fun during the afternoon that by 6.30pm, Billy was so exhausted that he was sound asleep in the study so I had my own bed all to myself.  I was pretty tired too so I went to bed super early too! x

A Smashing Good Time

When Adam and Melati were on their way home from Christmas celebrations at Nan and Pop's house, Melati remembered that we hadn't smashed the Gingerbread House that she had made for us.  We would have smashed it then but we were all so full that we just couldn't eat another thing so she made us promise that we would smash it on Boxing Day.

If mum were quicker she might of managed to get a before photo!  Oh well, here is the destruction in progress.

I'm still not very hungry, but that's OK, Billy will eat all of the gingerbread and the decorations.

Showtime

Now it is nothing new to everyone but for some reason, mum and dad really don't like going to the show.  Mum mutters something about all the crowds, the crazy and the cost and then says something along the lines of "Lets go to a country show instead!"  Of course she has said that for the last few years but have we ever made it to a show anywhere?  NO!

This year we took matters into our own hands.  A quick call to Aunty Sharn and we found out that she was going to the show and we could go with her.  How awesome was that.

We spent hours looking at the different show bags online to find not only a show bag that we liked but one that mum wouldn't take one look at and decide to throw out saying it was full of 'plastic crap'.

Finally, show day arrived and we were up bright and early.  We were armed with our list of 'approved show bags', a packed lunch, drinks and snacks as well as 'truck-loads of cash' when we went to Sharn's house.  As soon as Sharn's other friends arrived, we wandered over to the show and the madness began.

First stop was the show bag hall and that was where catastrophe struck.  All of the show bags on AJ's approved list were sold out.  A quick call to mum who was at work and AJ had approval to get a different show bag.  (I think mum must have been flustered - she would never have agreed to AJ's next choice of show bag!)

Next it was time to get out and see the sights.  We watched some awesome displays in the grand arena.  We were a little disappointed that it was too windy for the stunt motorbikes to get out and do their crazy tricks but our disappointment ended pretty quickly when the stunt utes were in action instead.

Then there were rides to be had.

Can you believe that we were at the show all day long and still didn't get a chance to see everything.  I wonder if mum and dad will still let us go to a country show so that we can see the things we didn't get to see here?

Thanks for an awesome day Aunty Sharn, any chance you can take us to the show again next year?

Jumping High

Today was a school day but I didn't do any school work.  In fact I was barely at school.  I went to school early and jumped on the bus to go to the District Athletics Carnival.  I was competing in the high jump.

Nervously waiting...

I was pretty nervous, it was the first time I was competing in the District Sports and I have only ever done high jump about 3 times!  Now when I had a go at high jump at school, the mat we were landing on was about 30 or 40 centimetres high.  The mat here was ginormous, it was 80 centimetres high!

My event was the first event called.  I was the first person to jump.  The bar was set at 1.05m.  Off I ran and up I jumped.  Before I knew it I was over the bar and on the mat.

The other kids went next and every time they had a jump the bar fell down.  They all had a second jump.  Only one of the other kids in my age group managed to make it over the bar.

The two of us kept on jumping.  If I made it over the bar, then he would make it over the bar.  If I hit the bar, then he would hit the bar too.  

Almost! I think my bum got in the way :-/

We went from 1.05m to 1.08m and we both cleared it.  The bar was moved up to 1.11m but we both missed it.  They dropped it back to 1.10m and we both cleared it.

Made it this time :-)

The bar was moved it back up to 1.11cm.  I just missed it on the third jump, I clipped the bar with my heels but he made it over.  That means that he won the event and I came in second place.

They had to have a jump off for third place.  Everyone else tried their best but they couldn't make it over the bar at 1.05m so they dropped it back again and still no one made it so everyone else came equal third.  Because I got a place, I was lucky enough to get a ribbon and points for my school.

 Oh and did I mention I had a cheer squad - Aunty Sharn,  Billy AND mum!  That was a pretty cool surprise!

I think I like high jump, I wonder if I can go to Little Athletics and learn some more sports, maybe one day I could be in the Olympics!

Surprises for Everyone

Today was a school day, but there was no school.  All of the teachers are stopping work to try to make sure that they are given the opportunity to keep being great teachers.  That and a whole lot of other reasons that we really don't understand.

Anyway, the best thing about not having to go to school was that we could have a surprise adventure in the city.  

The first surprise was meeting up with Aunty Sharn and Billy, they didn't know that we weren't at school and they weren't expecting to see us.  The next surprise was when Nan and Pop got off the train and were super excited to see ALL of us.  

We had the whole day to hang out together.  It was pretty cold, so instead of doing our usual stuff, exploring parks and gardens, we decided to go to the museum.

It has been forever since we have been to the museum and it was even more awesome than I remembered.  There was so many cool places to explore that I didn't even get time to show Billy where the kids part of the museum was.  

I wanted to stay at the museum all day long but everyone was starting to get hungry so we headed back to the city to have a late lunch.  

Eventually the day was almost over and it was time for Nan and Pop to catch the train back home.  Even if it was a busy day, it was great to spend the day with so many awesome people.

Celebrating at School

Mum came to visit me at school with a huge tray of treats for me and all my class mates to celebrate my birthday. It was great to have everyone sing Happy Birthday to me and share a snack together at the end of the school day.

Do you know what made it even more special? My Aunty Sharn came along too and Harry had his first visit to school - on my birthday!

Baby Sitting Billy

Tonight I was supposed to go to soccer with mum but I really didn't want to. Instead I asked Aunty Sharn if I could help her look after Billy.

Having cuddles with Billy is much better than playing soccer.

More Boys

I have to say that I was a little worried that Milla would be right and that Billy would be a girl. Luckily I was right and Billy is a boy cousin who I know will grow up and be great friends with me. I am sure he will like playing with Milla, but not as much as he likes hanging out with me!

I wonder how long I have to wait before Billy can climb trees and play footy?

Finally!

Hours and hours and hours and hours after we were tucked up in bed baby Billy was born. Isn't he beautiful?

Waiting

Guess where we are - we are sitting in a hospital waiting room again.

This time it has been for an even longer wait than the last time we were sitting in a hospital waiting room but luckily it is for a much better reason, baby Billy is on the way.

Aunty Sharn has been there all day long waiting for Billy to get out. We went home with dad to try and get some sleep, Billy doesn't seem to be in a huge hurry.

Hopefully we get to meet Billy soon,

Showering Babies

In case you hadn't realised it; Sharn is going to have a baby really soon and I can't wait!

When mum said that we were going to have a baby shower for Billy I was really excited - I thought Billy was going to be born and we could give Billy a shower. What she really meant was that we were having a party to help Sharn get ready for Billy to arrive. It was great fun. We ate yummy food, drew pictures, played games and of course spoiled Sharn and Billy too.

It was fun having a baby shower for Billy, but I would much rather have a cuddle. Hurry up Billy, I want to meet you - I don't mind if you are born before my birthday, just come and play soon!
