Aren't the Halloween treats mum made for us crazy?

Trick or Treat
Well we are studying different celebrations at school this term. Some of the events we are learning about are birthdays, Christmas, Eid and Halloween.
Today I did some school research at home, I went trick or treating for Halloween. Now I know that normally kids dress up and try to trick other people to give them lollies. Instead of doing it that way, we have invented our own Halloween celebrations. First we have a party and a trick or treat treasure hunt.
We were going to have the party in circle park but it rained so we had the party at our house instead. There were 17 monsters, witches, fairies, ghosts and ballerinas running around the house. When the rain eventually stopped we went to the park for a treasure hunt.
Here is Harry Potter and a scary witch
Look at how fast I can run for treasure hunt treats!
Halloween research sure has been fun, I don't need to eat dinner because I have had so many treats!

Cutting School
Mum let me wag school for a few hours today to go to a casting call (someone, somewhere thought I was spunky enough to take photos of, but then I found out that I was too tall). By the time I finished at the casting call, it was nearly the end of the day. Instead of going straight home, we decided to go to the Botanical Gardens to relax and wait for dad to finish work.
Milla and I had a great time running around and exploring the gardens.
The most fun was when dad came to play too.
I love playing in the Botanical Gardens.

Here's Jack
I love pumpkins. Not only do they taste fantastic, they are great to use as decorations for Halloween. Last weekend we went to the market with dad and found a gigantic pumpkin to make into a Jack-o-lantern.
First we had to cut the lid off and scoop out the goopy insides!
Then we drew the picture of Jack on the pumpkin so dad could cut it out.
Look, Jack is done - isn't he cool?
I can't wait, tomorrow is Halloween and we can dress up and go to a trick or treat party in the park.

Invite
Now that I am 5, I can give out the invitations to my birthday party this weekend. I am going to invite my best friends to come to my house for a dance party.
First we will all make tutus to dance in, then we will have our own dance class and learn a dance routine. When the parents come back we will all put on a show for them. It should be great fun.
I think that I will love being 5!

Happy Birthday Boo
When I went to bed last night I was only 4,
but today I am a 5 year old.
When I woke up there was a pile of presents sitting there waiting for me to open. Because I am such a lovely sister, I even let AJ help me open some of them. (I did make sure that he opened them carefully so that he wouldn't rip the paper OR the sticky tape!)
After I opened all my presents and had a play, it was time to get ready for dance rehearsals. Luckily I had a new dance outfit to wear!
When we finished at dancing, a few special people came over to share the day with me. We had a great time. Here are a few more photos of my birthday (because Ellen is always behind the camera taking photos, I don't have any photos of her on the day).
I think I love being 5 already,

Another Surprise!
Today was full of surprises. I went for a long drive with mum to go to the book launch for Surprise. I haven't been to a book launch before, but that could be because I am not even 5 yet. Anyway, I didn't know what to expect, but I was ready for lots of surprises.
The first surprise was seeing my cousins Zoe, Luca and Abe there, it was great to share such a fun day with them.
The second surprise was seeing the magician perform. The magician is the guy in the hat, Karen (the author) is talking on the microphone.
The magician is one of the funniest performers I have ever seen, and I have seen him perform lots of times now, first as a wizard, then as an elf, even as Santa and today as a magician. My cousin Luca really, really liked him.
Luca laughed more than anyone. It was almost just as fun watching him laugh as it was to watch the show.
I have decided that book launches are great, they are full of surprises, yummy food and heaps of fun. I hope that Karen writes more great books and I get to go to more book launches some time soon.

(PS - Karen I know that this day was ages ago, but we are finally playing catch up, sharing all the fun things we have been doing lately.)

The Gathering of the Clan, 2008 Edition
Well the annual Gathering of the Sheridan Clan has already been and gone, and it was a fantastic weekend.
We arrived at the campsite on the banks of the mighty Boosey Creek on Friday night. It was dark when we got there and we were really tired. Luckily nan and pop arrived at camp early and had set up our tent for us so we could get some sleep.
We woke up really early Saturday morning, just as the sun was rising and the birds were singing. We stayed in bed for a little while, then got up for some breakfast around the campfire. Before we knew it, the whole clan (well almost the whole clan) had woken up and there were people everywhere. There were cousins that we hadn't seen since the last clan gathering and it was great to play together again.
We really don't know why mum and dad don't want to live in Tungamah, there are so many fun things to do. We went fishing, played tennis, kicked a footy, climbed trees, explored around the creek, played with animals, hit golf balls to the other side of the creek, tried to find the golf balls that were lost in the grass on the other side of the creek, played cricket, decorated craft, ate far too much food and ran around like crazy.
All this fun, and it was still only Saturday. We all went to the pub for tea before heading back t camp for a well deserved sleep to regain some energy for our last day camping.
We woke up early again on Sunday. There was no point staying in bed when the sun was shining. We ran around all day, we even managed to lock our keys into the car. We were so busy that we are exhausted just remembering all the fun things that we did. Instead of telling you about all the fun, why don't you look at a few of our photos from the weekend.
As you can see, we had a great time. We can't wait until next year when the Clan will all gather at Jackson and Charlie's farm for some more Sheridan adventures.
Love a very exhausted AJ and Milla

Taking a Break
Wish us luck, we are just about to get into the car to go to Tungamah for the Sheridan Clan Gathering on the banks of the mighty Boosey Creek. It should be a great weekend. We sure hope that no one breaks anything...
This was AJ at the end of last year's Gathering!
We will fill you in on all the excitement when we get back,

My Surprise
Look what I did instead of going to sleep last night - I drew a picture of me really happy after reading my new book.
I wonder if mum will let me cut this picture out of my writing book?
Perhaps I will have to just draw more Surprise! pictures...

Surprise!
A new book arrived in the mail today. It is a book written by someone that mum knows a little bit just from reading blogs.
Our new book is called Surprise! and it is all about getting a surprise.
It is a really good book, and it is a story about a surprise that really happened in real life. I like getting surprises too, but after reading the book, I think that I will make a surprise for someone else instead.
Good night, Love AJ Pickle

Lunch for Giants
Well AJ is back at school and since I don't have any kinder today, I got to spend some more time with nan and pop. We did a little bit of shopping and then we went out for lunch.
Poppy had a gigantic burger. I don't know how he managed it, but he ate the whole thing! Do you know what is even more impressive? He didn't spill anything!
