20/20 vision

Another Saturday morning on the ice followed by a trip to Costco. Just a typical Saturday for us I hear you say? Well almost but not quite, we didn't buy ANYTHING at Costco today. Confused? We were in a bit of a hurry so we ran in, met Emmy the optometrist, had our eyes tested, found out that my vision is awesome and ran back out again in time to have lunch with friends.
How's that for a productive morning?

Sundays in my City #8 - Climbing High

Thanks to Unknown Mami, our mum is trying to make sure that we do something fun each week so that we have some photos to share for Sundays in my City.

Sunday is Soccer Day around here.  So we were up at stupid o'clock to go to the other side of the city for Milla to play soccer.  We were lucky it was an early game, it started to rain just as we headed for the car!  Of course, because it began to rain, that cut short our plans for spending the rest of the morning in the park.  Instead we headed to DFO South Wharf to get new shoes.  Mum stopped at Anaconda to get new trekking boots and we managed to convince her that we should go rock climbing on the indoor tower there.  Surprisingly enough, mum agreed (perhaps because the hiking boots she found were $80 cheaper than she expected! and before you know it, the 3 of us were climbing high.

Climbing high
Like this Dad!

I dunno about this!
What am I doing up here?
Can we go again?

And we are on the way down!
Mum decided to stay on the ground and get photos, we think that is mainly because she is chicken!

Manipulative Parents

After starting today in the middle of the night, travelling through a few different states by train and then  spending all day exploring the US side of Niagara Falls, all I really wanted to do was to go for a swim and to relax in the spa and all AJ wanted was to eat dinner in the hotel buffet.  Now seeing that the hotel we were staying in had both a pool and a hot tub, as well as a huge buffet that should have been pretty easy right?  Wrong, it was too early to go to dinner and not everyone even wanted to go swimming.  Mum didn't even pack bathers so she didn't want to go swimming at all, sure she was prepared to sit by the pool if we went swimming but first she needed to find something to read.

I thought that I would be helpful and give mum the magazine that was in our room.  I should have checked to see what the magazine was about before I gave it to her, it was a magazine about all the places to shop around Niagara.  Big mistake.

Before I realised it, mum had convinced us that we should all go shopping instead of doing what we wanted to do.  Sure it involved suggesting to us that we go shopping tonight, for just a few hours and then spending all day tomorrow in Canada.  The other option was to eat dinner at the hotel and hang out at the pool and then go shopping all day tomorrow.

I am pretty sure that mum wouldn't spend all day shopping - she hates shopping.  Even dad, who loves to shop, wouldn't survive an entire day shopping.  It really isn't worth the risk.  So now I am off to do some shopping but look out Canada, we are heading your way tomorrow!

Hide and Seek

Mum and dad have been shopping on ebay again and today the courier arrived with 2 ginormous packages for us; a new coffee table and a place for me to hide - inside a new book case!
The new shelves are a great place to rest and to hide, I wonder how long it will be before there are too many things on the shelves so that I can't fit any more?

Building a Bear

I have been saving up all of my pocket money to do something special. I really wanted to make myself a Build-a-Bear but they are crazy expensive. Ellen promised that if I saved $30 she would pay the other $30 so that I could build my own Bear.

As soon as I realised that I had enough money to make a bear I called Ellen to let her know and we made a date to go building. Even though AJ had spent his pocket money on Pokemon cards he was happy to come along with me to build my bear. He even helped me think of possible names for my new best friend. Mum suggested that we have a few names to choose from and decide when we met my bear. The final choices were Sophie or Alexandra, I just couldn't decide.

Finally it was time to go and find my bear. First I had to decide which bear was right for me.
Before she could be stuffed I had to give her a heart. Before I put her heart into her body I made a wish. Then when her heart was in, it was time to stuff her. I was allowed to push the pedal that put the stuffing into my bear. When she was stuffed to the perfect cuddle squishiness she was sewn up.
Now I know my bear is beautiful, but she was also naked it was time to go and find her some clothes. Where to start? Of course I had to find my favourite accessories for her and then find some clothes to match. There were so many to choose from but finally I found the perfect outfit.
With my bear and all of her new clothes it was time to register her 'birth' on the build-a-bear network and then check her birth certificate.
My bear is all dressed and ready to play.
Meet Sophie, my new best friend.
I love my bear,
