Waking the (almost) neighbour

It just seemed crazy that we would be just around the corner from Ellen and not stop by to say hello.

Sure it was still early in the morning on a public holiday but it was worth checking to see if she was awake. We couldn't remember which apartment was hers so instead of waking all of her neighbours, we tweeted this to her!

When she saw our tweet, we were here...

Since it was so early in the morning and we knew that Ellen was awake, we went to get coffee. Well coffee for Ellen and hot chocolate for us!

I am pretty sure that Ellen was happy to see us, even if it was early.

Thanks for the hot choccy Ellen, I will be the delivery girl any time!

Jump for Joy

Hey Nan,

We know how much you love it when we climb up somewhere really high, so we figured that we would get mum to get some photos to show you!  We found these rocks when we were out exploring yesterday and just had to climb them.  Then the only thing we could do was to jump off them, over and over again.

We had so much fun yesterday that we even found ways to jump and go crazy again today!

See Nan, we can jump from really really high places and still land safely.  We know you are probably still freaking out but some of the things we jumped from were twice our height!

Sundays in my City #1 - Stressing Nanna

Once upon a time, mum used to take part in a photo meme where she got to show some of the fun stuff that we did over the weekend.  Things changed and mum stopped playing along.  We miss photos of our fun being shared with Unknown Mami and everyone else who played along with Sundays in my City so we have decided to join in.

We have spent all week hanging out with Nan and Pop but since the holidays are almost over we had to come back to Melbourne.  We were up bright and early to catch the train home and spent a few hours hanging out with nan, Aunty Sharn and Billy before Nan caught the train all the way home again.

It has been ages since we have been to this park, it is so much fun.

My favourite part of playing in this park is finding all the different places I can climb to freak Nan out!

Climbing on public art is cool, even Milla joined in for the fun!

If you want to join in the fun of Sundays in my City, it doesn't have to be a Sunday OR in a city, click on over to Unknown Mami.

Another Mini Adventure

I was starting to worry that being back home in Melbourne that we wouldn't have time to go on adventures any more.

Luckily we found time to go on a geocaching adventure today, on our way to a barbecue.  OK, it may not have been a successful geocaching adventure, we didn't actually find the cache, but we did have a great time exploring this cool park.

Can you believe that this park is actually in suburbia?  It was so quiet and relaxing to explore that it was easy enough to imagine that we were far away from suburbia and relaxing in the middle of the bush.

I hope that some day we get to come back here and find the cache!

Slipping

Everyone knows that we like to follow the signs that give us advice about what is happening around us.  I didn't think that meant that AJ would follow all of the signs that he saw!

AJ is Slippery on the walkway
In fact, it looked like AJ was having so much fun slipping just like the stick figure on the sign that we decided to join him.
Look we are ALL slipping!
There are fun things to do everywhere we go!

A New Place to Play

Some things may never change.  Mum is still dragging us along to work with her whenever she gets the chance.

At least now when we get dragged to Flemington there there is a new super cool playground for us to explore at Debneys Park!

There are so many cool things to play on, a climbing net, giant sider web, dizzy sticks, a ginormous flying fox and places to ride bikes, skateboards and scooters.  I haven't had a chance to go on the flying fox yet, there are always about 4 billion other kids waiting to have a go on it.  Maybe next time I am there I will get a turn on it too.

Good Bye Old Year

It was time to head home to Melbourne to get ready for the old year to finish and for a new year to begin. AJ decided that he didn't want to go home so he stayed with Nan and Pop and we drove home without him.

We decided to pack a picnic and wander over the road and spend the evening relaxing in the park with anyone who wanted to join us. I was happy that my friend Poss could come and play in the park with us.

Once it got dark we cracked the glow-sticks and made glow in the dark jewellery so everyone could see us as we danced around.

The rain decided to hit just as it got really dark so we had to run in to Poss's house to keep dry. We played for a little while on the Wii before watching the fireworks in at Docklands through the window. For some reason mum and dad decided that it was home time BEFORE the new year even began, they tried to trick me into believing the fireworks meant that it was time to go to bed! Don't tell them that I was kind of happy to go home to bed, I didn't want to spend the start of the new year tired and grumpy!

Happy 2010

Class Picnic

Today was the perfect day for a picnic, and to make the day even better it was a class picnic. My entire class was invited, as well as their families. We all went to Pirate Park to play and it was like there were millions of people there. The best thing was spending time with my class mate and best friend.
I hope we will be friends forever.

Picnic Time

Do you know what is better than having a picnic in the park? Having a picnic in the park with lots of friends AND dressing up. You see today is the day of the Race that stops a nation - the Melbourne Cup.

Normally we would have a picnic in the 'other park' but because it was likely to rain we wouldn't have anywhere to run to to get out of the rain. Instead we decided to have a picnic in our park. We set our TV up outside Chloe's house, set up a table of food to share and spread out the picnic blankets.

It was a great day and lots of people came to our picnic. I dressed up and wore a pretty dress and a fascinator in my hair, just like all the beautiful people who were walking through our park on the way to the real races.
Luckily wearing a pretty dress didn't stop me from having fun, I could still have fun and climb trees, I just took off my shoes like the girls at the real races did to walk home!
When the races were over on the TV we played races in the park. Dad wasn't very good at racing on the little twisty buggy so we helped him.
Everyone had a great day at our picnic and luckily it didn't start raining until the picnic was finished.

Fun in the Sun

The grass is green, the sun is shining, it is Friday and my best friend came to play so we stayed in the park all afternoon.
I hope the sun keeps shining, we are going to Nagambie for a holiday this weekend, and to watch dad jump out of a plane!

Rabbit Season

Shhhh, be very quiet, there are rabbits around here!

There it is!
On the way home from school today, we went exploring in Rabbit Park.  Guess what - we found a rabbit.  It was hiding up under the peppercorn trees and then it hopped to the corner of the park and through the fence.

Rabbit spotting is fun,

iSkoot

Now that I have my own speedy scooter, I can scoot around the park with the big kids.  The best part is that I can sing along as I scoot, it is fantastic.

I wish that I had thought to buy a scooter at the start of the holidays, there are only a few more days of scooting before I go back to school.

I love my new scooter.

Another Hunt

Although we have already had an Easter Egg Hunt today, this afternoon we went down to Pirate Park to have ANOTHER Easter Egg Hunt.  This time it was an Egg Hunt for lots of kids who live in Kensington.  I think there may have been even more kids this year than there were last year.
I was a little worried that I wouldn't find many eggs.  I ran really fast and put all of the eggs that I found into my sling so I didn't have to keep running back to the basket to drop the eggs back.

I really shouldn't have worried about not finding any eggs, look at how many Easter Eggs we all found!

An Egg Hunt in Circle Park

Last night AJ went for a sleep over at his friend Tiger's house, so Tiger's big sister Poss came for another sleep over with me.  We had a great time together, but Poss couldn't stay at our house all day long because her family is going camping.

When her mum came to pick her up to go camping, she heard someone say that they saw the Easter Bunny in Circle Park hiding chocolate eggs.  We all ran over to the park to see if we could find any eggs.
We all found some eggs, even Dad who fell asleep on the grass and Paddy who can only just walk!

It was great finding Easter Eggs in our park, but soon we are heading to another Easter Egg hunt in Pirate Park.  I can't wait!

Good Neighbours

Well since I have been home from hospital, I have been pretty quiet and haven't done much at all, well except for sit on the couch and watch movies or sit outside and watch someone else play Wii.  All that changed this afternoon when we went to Circle Park to celebrate Neighbour Day.  It was great to go out into the sunshine and have some fun.

Of course I did have a dose of pain killers BEFORE I went to the picnic!
Best Friends - The Broken Arm Boys

But the real reason I was so happy is because my best friend is also my neighbour and he was at the picnic too.  It is fantastic to have so many great neighbours, I think that we should have Neighbour Day every weekend.

Neighbour Day

Did you celebrate Neighbour Day?  I did.  Neighbour Day is Australia's annual celebration of community, bringing together the people next door, across the street or on the net farm for a beer, a barbie or just a cuppa.

We celebrated by having a picnic in Circle Park.  Everyone was there and it was fantastic.
I was so busy drawing and crafting with my friends that I forgot to eat!

Don't forget to put the date in your calendar for next year - Sunday the 28th of March 2010.

Another Festival

We have been so busy lately, there are so many different places to go and interesting things to do.

This afternoon we went to the Moonee Valley Festival in Queen's Park in Moonee Ponds.  It was great fun and there was heaps to do.  There were different bands playing on stage, people dancing, heaps of rides and different entertainers everywhere you looked, as well as the park to play in.  There were two really really great parts of the day...

meeting Angus Monfries

and rock climbing.

I had a great time at the festival this weekend.  I wonder what festival I will go to next?

Getting Ready
I think that I am ready for a bike without training wheels.

First dad took the training wheels off my bike.

Then we went over to the park to practice.
Dad held on tight as I pedaled.  We went around the park a few times.

Then I decided it was all too hard.

It was Daddy's turn to ride my bike!

Perhaps I will try riding again some other time.
