Another Day, Another Beach

Like I said yesterday, being dragged along to hang out with girls can be a pain and being stuck hanging out with 3 little(ish) girls can be very painful.  Luckily we were in another pretty awesome place again today.

When we arrived at the beach we had the whole place to ourselves. 

I was able to go bodysurfing before the crowds turned up.

Once it was too busy in the water and I was thoroughly waterlogged, I decided it was time to join the girls on the beach. They were digging holes to see who could dig the deepest hole. I knew that I could did the biggest hole so I started digging.  Then, once my hole was the biggest, the girls helped bury me.

                           

Hmmm, I really didn't think this through!

Luckily I could get my arms free then I had to start digging my way out.  Let me tell you, it is much easier to dig a hole than it is to dig your way out of a hole!

If you don't count the wicked sunburn that I now have, maybe hanging out with girls at the beach isn't so bad!

Such a drag!

Sometimes it is frustrating when I get dragged along to things with Milla, to places where there are only girls or little kids to play with.  Then other times it is awesome, especially when the places that I get dragged to are at the beach!

I hope that you had a chance to enjoy the sunset too.

Visiting with friends

Sometimes I get sad that some of my best friends moved to the other side of the city and I don't get to see them all that often.  The sadness disappears when I get to go and visit them at their holiday house and we can spend the evening playing on the beach.

It is only the second day of the year and we are visiting our second beach of the year.

It was stinking hot today so we had a pretty quiet day with friends at home then mum surprised us and packed a dinner picnic to take to the beach!

A New Year and a New Beach

What better way to start the New Year than by driving to a 'new' beach.  OK, it isn't really a new beach but it was a part of the beach that was new to us, we stopped here to avoid the crowds on the main part of the beach.  Anyway, spending the day at the beach is always fun, there is so much to do.

Of course you can splash around in the water, go for a swim, search for sea creatures or find pretty rocks.

You can also dig holes in the sand. We had this great idea to dig holes and bury ourselves in the sand to avoid the sun.

Sunday in my City #2 - Working Hard?

We are joining in with Unknown Mami and Sunday in our City again but instead of showing what we did  today, because we didn't do anything cool, we will show you where mum was today.  She forgot to take photos today but she was there on Friday and took a few photos  to rub in how much fun she was having show us where she was 'working'.

Not only did she get to spend the day at the beach...

She got to ride a horse, through the bush and along the beach!

Now surely this can't reconsidered work!

I guess since she was at work on a day that was really still part of her holidays, and again today on the weekend, it is only fair that she get to do something fun.  So there you have it, Sunday in our City, well kinda near our city.  Hopefully mum will take us horse riding along the beach some time too!

Crazy Busy Days

Saturday morning is normally the day that I hide from mum as she nags me to clean my room... put my stuff away... find all my dirty washing... when all I want to do is snuggle on the couch and watch tv. Normally my Saturday morning is really boring. This morning was different. Sure mum still nagged me to clean up and put stuff away but that was so that I could find my iTouch and a few bits and pieces to throw into a bag before we set off on an adventure or two.

I knew it was skating day for Milla and that we were going to visit some of mum’s friends at the beach in the afternoon but I didn’t know what we were doing for the morning. First stop was a complete surprise, we went into Southbank to see the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra perform with dancers from the Australian Ballet. At first I thought it might just be full of little kids and boring but I was wrong, it was great. The first solo of the day was the clarinet - the instrument that I play. He was much better than I am, I could almost hear mum (nagging) saying “One day you could play as well as that but first you have to practice!” She might be right and I might start to practice more, might (but probably not)!

All of the performances were really good but the best part was when Patrick the dancer snuck out in his tap shoes to make music. He would tap a rhythm and then the guy on the drum would copy him. They started off pretty slow, doing tap steps and making rhythms that I knew but got faster and faster and more complicated. Then the drummer made rhythms and Patrick copied them, it was awesome and he ended up dancing the rhythm of a drum roll!

My favourite musician had to be the guy on the Double Bass, he really had fun when he played, he was almost dancing in his seat as he played. He was really cool and fun to watch.

To be honest, I had heaps of fun at the performance and was lucky enough to have my photo taken with a few of the musicians and the dancers too.

Not a bad start to a crazy busy unexpected Saturday morning!

Next stop of the Crazy Saturday was to fill in time at Icehouse when Milli had her lessons and before we headed to the beach. Normally I don’t like hanging around when Milli has her lessons because only the people having lessons can go onto the ice but today because her lesson was at lunch time I got to go skating too. Not only did I get to go skating but I got to play with the giant snowball on the ice. Certainly much more fun than having to clean my room.

The adventure continued after skating. We grabbed some lunch from Costco and headed to the beach. All I knew is that we would spend the afternoon with some of mum’s friends, I didn’t know them but I knew that there would be boys to hang out with instead of just girls so I figured it would be fun.

Let’s just say that fun would be an understatement, I had an awesome time.

There were 4 other boys to hang out with, as well as 4 girls but the best part was that where we were staying was great, we were in the town but there was so much space around that we could be up the front building cubby houses and digging booby traps and the parents couldn’t even see us!

I think mum must have been having fun too because before she realised it, it was really late and we were ready for bed. Instead of getting back into the car and driving home, we grabbed out our ‘just in case we need them’ sleeping bags out of the car and went to bed. Can you believe that there was enough room for all of us to sleep in the one bedroom! Of course sharing a bedroom with 8 other kids meant that we stayed up really late and woke up really early to make sure we had plenty of time to hang out together.

We spent hours mucking about but even digging booby traps didn’t stop mum from making us get back in the car and heading back to Melbourne for another day of madness. I really wished that we could have stayed down by the beach to hang out with my new friends. Hopefully we can go back there again some time soon.

An Aussie Christmas

We decided to have an Aussie Christmas this year and it was heaps of fun.

The morning started bright and early with us digging through the enormous Santa bags on the end of the bed. They were full of great things but can you believe that Santa made a mistake and put the bags onto the wrong bed. Luckily we could swap them before we dragged them upstairs to show mum and dad what Santa had left for us.

After we compared the treasures we headed downstairs. Guess what? There were MORE presents waiting for us downstairs. It must have been the really real Santa that we met at Harbour Town because he left exactly what we asked for - a giant craft set and a surprise for Milla (a bird of paradise plant) and a WWE Wrestling Ring with wrestlers for AJ. We must have been extra good this year because as well as those amazing presents, Santa also left us with a new Razor scooters. Santa even left a scooter for Tong too!

We were far too excited to eat breakfast so we headed over to the park for a scoot. It was as if Santa decided that all the Kensington Kids needed new scooters because lots of our friends joined us in the park for a scoot!

We scooted ourselves hungry and headed home for a fantastic giant breakfast with all our favourites - fruit, croissants and bacon. Delicious! The only problem was that when we got back home we realised that we still had presents to open so it distracted us from being hungry!

Eventually we ate our breakfast and then mum and dad remembered that in all the excitement of the morning, they had forgotten to give us a Christmas present. It was in a giant basket and hidden under the stairs so we dragged it out and look what we found...

Can you believe it, I can't believe that we are allowed to get our very own kitten. How exciting.

Now that the present opening was really finished we made calls to family and friends who were elsewhere celebrating Christmas before packing a picnic and heading off to the beach to celebrate Australian style.

It was great playing at the beach all afternoon, enjoying the sunshine, splashing about in the water and playing on the rocks.

We hope that everyone else had a Christmas that was as fun and exciting as ours.

Beach Hopping

Mum went to work today so for a special treat we spent the day hanging out with dad. Instead of sitting around the house we went out on an adventure. We sent photos along the way to mum to show her what we were up to (and to make her a little bit jealous of us out enjoying the sun and the splashing).

Four different beaches in one afternoon and we had a great time. Hopefully mum will come beach-hopping with us next time.

Crazy People

Today was my first holiday from school, it was a public holiday and we all got to stay home.  To celebrate wanted to something together.  First we thought we might go to the city, but then thought that everybody would be at the city so then we thought about going to the zoo - I wanted to go to Melbourne Zoo and AJ wanted to go to the Werribee Zoo so that he could try and convince us to all go to Werribee Mansion instead.   

Mum really didn't want to listen to us argue and convinced us that we should go to the beach instead.  The real reason we all decided to go to the beach was because Dad said he would go swimming with us!

It was nice and sunny at the beach, but it was really really cold in the water.  I didn't really want to go swimming but because Dad and AJ were already in the water I went in too.

Life's a Beach

This morning, after a quick dip in the hot tub, we went for a drive to Williamstown.  Who do you think I found in the park in Williamstown?

After a bite to eat in Williamstown for brunch, we headed to the beach for a relaxing play.  

Although it was cold, we still had fun splashing in the water!

I wonder, if we ask really nicely will Amelia be allowed to have a sleep over tonight?

Water Play

The sun is shining so what better thing to do than go to the beach.  

Now that I am feeling heaps better it was great being out in the sunshine and splashing in the water.  We even caught some sea monkeys in a bucket.  It was a great day.  

Our first beach trip for the season was heaps of fun, but the fun didn't stop at the beach.  When we got home, our backyard was finished and we could fill the hot tub.

This time tomorrow and we should be in the hot tub relaxing, I can't wait.

One More Night

Well Danielle is only staying for one more night so we decided to do as many fun things today as we could.  We woke Danielle up really, really early - 8 o'clock is really early for a teenager, and started our adventures straight away.  

It was a hot day, so we went straight to the beach.  We were there before 9 and had a swim and a play. 

It got hotter AND really windy, so we went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks movie.  We had some spare time before the movie started so we went shopping.

After laughing, singing and dancing all the way through the movie we decided it was time for some culture.  We took Danielle to the museum for a play and explore (and to meet Amelia).

I had heaps of fun showing Danielle some of my favourite places.  I hope that she comes back and has a holiday with us again.

Yarrawonga Beach

With AJ and Dad on their way to Bathurst to watch the V8s with Nan and Pop, I get to have a quiet weekend in Yarrawonga with mum.

Today we wandered down to the lake, only to find that the lake was disappearing!
The area that I normally swim in with AJ had no water in it all - it was more like a beach than a boat ramp. I didn't really mind, I love the beach!

Happy Father's Day

Father's Day really isn't a day just for the dad's to enjoy, it is a day for everyone to enjoy.

Today we gave dad his Father's Day present - another giant box of Lego, this time with racing cars to build. That kept dad AND AJ happy. Then we went to DFO to try and find a new suit for dad. That kept dad AND mum AND me happy, even though they didn't have any really nice suits to buy.

The best part of the day was when we went to the beach for a picnic. We were all happy, AJ could play footy mum could relax in the sunshine and then Amelia and her family arrived so I had someone to play with.


Dad was really happy to have another dad to talk to, I think he even forgot he was a dad because we were all having fun and no one was nagging!

Life's A Beach

After a cold and pretty wet weekend, the sun came out again today. That was all the encouragement Amelia and I needed to head to the beach.

It wasn't even a hot day, but we decided that it was nice enough to go for a swim!

It is a shame that our mum's forgot to pack our bathers.

I love the beach, I hope that we have a few more sunny days before winter really starts.

Holiday Fun

It really doesn't matter that it is a cold day, it is the holidays and every holiday should have a trip to the beach! Today my friend Chris came to the beach with us and Gabby.

After we had a swim, we went exploring along the rocks looking for abalone shells. Gabby's big sister was really good at finding the shiny shells. Chris and I didn't find any abalone shells, but we did find a place where the train tracks went all the way into the water!

Partners In Crime

Can you believe it, I know another AJ!
I met him at Anna and Tino's wedding.

He was heaps of fun to play with. We went on adventures on the beach, climbed on the boats, ran away from the other kids and hid in the trees to eat all of the maggots and chips. We even dared each other to do crazy tricks.

AJ is so cool, I hope I get to play with him again some time soon.

Almost Summer

Well Summer is almost here, and finally it feels like beach weather.

Sarah McNamara hasn't been to the beach since she got to Melbourne, so today we went exploring at Williamstown beach. Macsie and Sarah came along too for a yummy picnic.

We had so much fun digging and building sandcastles, looking for water snails, chasing seagulls and splashing in the water.

Summer is fun, I hope we can go to the beach again really soon.
