John's Garden

Today was a very busy day at school; we went on another excursion. We are learning all about things that live and grow in gardens, so we went to explore some gardens.

First we walked to Eli's house to explore his garden. When we were there, we followed a map to all of the different trees that were in the garden. When we had finished exploring at Eli's, it was time to walk to John's house and explore his garden.

John has a really special garden because all of the plants in it are natives and are supposed to grow in this area. Even without much water, they still grow. We helped John's garden by planting seeds and cuttings.

The cuttings came from plants that were already in the garden. Meg, that's John's mum, cut little pieces of the plant off, then we dipped the end of the stalk into some honey. Then it was time to plant the cutting in the ground. We had to put honey on the cutting to give it some food to help the roots to grow.

I really like gardening, but I don't have anywhere to grow plants. I might have to get some giant pots to make my own garden and see what I can grow.

A Walk in the Park

AJ went to Chris's house after school today, so I didn't have to go and pick him up.

Instead I went to Circle Park for a walk with 2 of my favourite boys - Macs and Roger.

We had a lovely day together.

Life's A Beach

After a cold and pretty wet weekend, the sun came out again today. That was all the encouragement Amelia and I needed to head to the beach.

It wasn't even a hot day, but we decided that it was nice enough to go for a swim!

It is a shame that our mum's forgot to pack our bathers.

I love the beach, I hope that we have a few more sunny days before winter really starts.

The Secret Revealed

Remember that big secret I was talking about last week. Well I can tell you all about it now. I can do even better than tell you about it, I can show you...

Click on this link to see the secret -> Humpty Dumpty p1L assembly.

It is pretty hard to see where I am in the movie, but maybe you will get a glimpse of me.

(This is my class - Prep/1 L, waiting for the performance to begin.)

I hope you all enjoyed the show.

Fall on your Face?

Finally, after months of waiting, it was my turn to join the circus. I had my first circus class today. I went on the trapeze, did somersaults, hula hoops, mini trampolining and even climbed a tricky rope ladder.

I loved climbing the huge rope ladder. I climbed so high I could almost touch the roof.

When I climbed down from the ladder, I saw this message written on the wall. Luckily I didn't fall on my face!

My Backyard

Living in Kensington is fantastic. I don't have a really big yard out the back, but I have the best back yard in the world!

Today after we picked up AJ from school we went to the Venny. The Venny is the most amazing backyard for everyone to play in. There are animals to feed and pat, a vege garden to work in , a tyre swing and best of all a trampoline. When you are tired of bouncing on the trampoline, you can play in one of in the cubby house, ride a bike, explore the castle or even dig in the sandpit.

Even the walk home from the Venny is fun. First we have to walk past the Other Park (the one without a name near Michael and Yasmin's houses), then Sheep Park and finally through Circle Park.

It may not be a long walk home from the Venny, but it sure takes a long time to get there!

My Secret

I did some secret art work at school today. I want to tell you all about it, but I can't. It is all a part of the surprise we are making for Monday morning at school.

Don't tell everyone, but here is a sneak peak of what I was making.

I can't wait to tell you all about the surprise,

Water Everywhere

After a long morning of sitting, almost quietly, in the waiting room at the hospital as poppy had photos taken of his head, AJ and I wanted to go exploring outside. We took poppy to his next doctors appointment and we went to visit the Fitzroy Gardens instead.

After running around and climbing through all the fountains and streams that had no water in them, we decided to have a quiet stroll through the conservatory.

We picked the best time ever to explore the conservatory - they had just watered all the plants that were hanging from the roof.
Mum and Ellen didn't want to get wet, but AJ and I had a shower under the pot plants!

Poppy still had more appointments and we were too worried to keep still, so we kept exploring.

Finally, after he finished all of his appointments, poppy came home to tell us that his ears were going to get better soon and he would be able to hear everything we say. He told us that his ears weren't really broken there was just too much watery stuff that stopped him from hearing things.

I wonder if poppy had too many showers under pot plants?

Home Sweet Home?

You go away for a few days and when you get back, you find that someone has moved into your house! Can you believe it, there are 5 of us in the house now - mum, dad, me, Milla and Roger!
Roger is a rabbit, isn't he adorable!

I met Roger before Easter, but when I was away, he decided that he wanted to live in a house with kids, so he moved in. Isn't it fantastic, I finally have my very own pet to cuddle!

I wonder what would happen if Milla and I went away for a really long holiday? Maybe Milla could get a horse!

Holiday Fun

We have had so much fun this Easter and we love being on holidays at Nan and Pop's in Yarrawonga.

Look at some of the places we have already been exploring.

We have so many adventures planned in Yarrawonga (and Tungamah too), that we have sent mum and dad back to Melbourne to go to work, and we can stay here and have an even longer holiday. Of course we miss mum and dad, but having nan, pop and aunt Sharn to play with is heaps of fun.

See you all when we get back to Melbourne,

Breakfast in Bed

We we woke up this morning, the Easter Bunny had left an easter egg in a cup on the end of our bed. We both grabbed an egg and waited quietly until the clock said 7. Then we ran all the way through the house to show Nanny and Poppy. On holidays we always wake Nan and Pop first, but mum and dad came to see what we were doing anyway.

We were even allowed to eat breakfast in bed. OK, so it wasn't our bed, but is was a bed and we did eat and share our chocolate. Easter must be the only day that we are allowed to have chocolate for breakfast!

AJ looking into the matter - Chocolate for breakfast?

Milla enjoying a 'once a year chocolate breakfast'

It didn't take long for Aunty Sharn to wake up and come to see what all the commotion was about. She gave us a giant rabbit each, and then Nan and Pop gave us another chocolate rabbit each.

Just when we thought that there couldn't possibly be more chocolate around, we decided to get up. We wandered into the lounge and found that the Easter Bunny had left more eggs. They were in the kitchen and in the garden too.

There were Easter eggs hidden everywhere!
Mmmm, delicious.

A Really GOOD Friday

Today is called Good Friday. I don't really know why it is called Good Friday. I think it is a good Friday because we all went to Pirate Park for a picnic.

As we were eating our picnic, the Easter Bunny must have been running through the park. I think that he forgot to do up his egg bag and hundreds of eggs fell out. We didn't mind, we all raced around the park looking for chocolate eggs to share - yum!

I wish all Fridays could be as much fun as today!

For Me?

I was given a beautiful flower tonight.

I am not sure why I was given a flower, perhaps it was because I was waiting so patiently for the excitement to begin?

We went in to Federation Square tonight, to see Jay and the Doctor from Triple J, and a band called the John Butler Trio.

Did you know that a trio is a group with only 3 people in it, but for some songs, the John Butler Trio had extra people on the stage helping them. My favourite was the trombone player that was on stage with them.

There were way more than 81 people there watching the band. There were so many people that I had to sit on mum's shoulders to even see the giant tv above the stage. It didn't really matter that I couldn't see everything, I could hear the great music and dance.

I will have to remember to stay up late tomorrow night to see if I am on JTV.

Holiday Fun

It really doesn't matter that it is a cold day, it is the holidays and every holiday should have a trip to the beach! Today my friend Chris came to the beach with us and Gabby.

After we had a swim, we went exploring along the rocks looking for abalone shells. Gabby's big sister was really good at finding the shiny shells. Chris and I didn't find any abalone shells, but we did find a place where the train tracks went all the way into the water!

Don't they know that trains cant go in the water, they will rust?

Through the Big Tunnel

Mum and dad had to get up really early this morning, so we had a holiday at Aunty Sharn's house. The idea was so we could sleep in, but really it was so we could make sure Sharn got up really early too.

When we were all dressed and ready, we caught the tram into the city to see what mum and dad were doing. The city was packed, mainly with people wearing numbers on their clothes and running. Even mum and dad were running. They ran really, really far, through the gardens, then through the big tunnel (the under ground one), over a huge bridge and then back through the city.

I was really proud of mum and dad, they ran all that way to give money to the sick kids in hospital. I thought that they could just give the kids the money, but they decided that exercise would be good for them.

I wonder if I can Run for the Kids next year?
