Is it Christmas?

The postie delivered a huge parcel today.
We had to wait all day long, looking at it until mum got home from work before we could open it. It was just like Christmas when you can see all of the presents under the Christmas tree but you aren't allowed to open them!

Finally mum arrived home and it was Christmas day all over again. There were hundreds of parcels for us to open and they were all from Ellen!

There were dolls and trains and pencil cases and bags and snacks and even presents for mum and dad! Some of our special presents came from Thailand, so now we have more cool summer clothes to wear like the ones that Rutt sent to us.
We are really lucky to have a wonderful friend like Ellen. We have missed her heaps since she has been in Japan. Luckily she almost has the internet so we can talk and message her all the time. We can't wait until she finally comes back to Melbourne to live.

I hope everyone else has thier own "Ellen's"

AJ and the bunyip

We found a new park today. The park was really far away and we had to drive there. Luckily it was worth the drive, it was a really amazing park with lots of cool things to play on.

There was a blue tongue lizard to climb over, a grasshopper fort, a snake path, a frog to climb over, a spider trampoline and of course the bunyip.

We will have to introduce some of our friends to our new friend the bunyip.

Mirror Magic

I went to the Museum with Ella, Taylah, Amelia and Zachary today. It has been a really long time since I have been to the museum.

My favourite part today was playing with the mirrors.
There were mirrors that made people look all wibbly-wobbly, mirrors that made me look really tall, and mirrors that made me look like a strange beach ball with stumpy little arms and legs.

My favourite mirrors were the ones that made you appear just like youself, but everywhere!

Look how many AJ's were at the Museum!

We had a great time today. Maybe next time we will explore the Commonwealth Games displays.

On Safari

We went on a safari adventure today. It was great fun.

We went exploring in 'Botswana' where the lions live and we met the zoo keeper. He told us all about how the lions hunt and how the people in Botswana try to keep their animals safe from the lions who live there too. We even saw all the bones of a lion. His jaw is much bigger than mine, and his teeth are heaps pointier! We were even able to see the skull of a zebra and the carcass of a buffalo. It was so cool.

I didn't want to go exploring in the grasslands by myself, but mum and Milli went exploring. I was a little bit worried because I could hear lions prowling in the grasslands but I couldn't see them (or mum and Milli).

Luckily they survived their adventure and we all went for a safari tour. When we were on the safari, I took lots of photos of the animals I saw.

This is the Rothschild Giraffe that I saw.

I had to take a photo because I have never seen a giraffe sit down before, it was really hard to see as the bus window was a little bit dirty (and the flash shone in the window)!

We saw lions, giraffe, hippos, rhinos, lots of different antelope, zebra and meerkats too.

Going on safari was fun,

Super Heroes

I went to visit my friend William. He lives very very far away from my house, and it seems to take forever to get there, but it is worth the drive. William has even more dress-ups than I do and they are so cool.

William dressed up as Mighty Man and I was Batman. We went for a huge adventure to the park. It was so much fun.
Look, I can fly!

We only went for a little visit to William's house, to have lunch, but we had so much fun that we stayed all day long. We even stayed for dinner and a bath. Luckily Will had lots of pyjamas and he let us wear his pyjamas home.

Now that Will's pyjamas are at my house, he will have to come over here for an adventure thats lasts all day long and some of the night too.

Nature Investigations
Lately at kinder we have been looking at different things that happen in nature. As a part of our investigations, my teacher Carol asked if I could bring in a plant to keep in the Kinder room.

After lots and lots of searching, I finally found a plant that I thought was suitable - it was really really big, had lots of leaves and its scientific name was 'something or other ALEXANDRAE'. The plant was meant for me, it really did have my name on it! When I put it into a real plant pot, it was way too big to fit into the car and it was too heavy to carry, so we had to strap it into the pusher and walk it to kinder!

I think that I have the best kinder plant. I will have to make sure that it stays big and healthy by watering it every day that I go to kinder.

As another part of our nature investigations, we went for a nature excursion around the park.(An excursion is when parents sign a note to say that thier kids can go out with the rest of the kinder kids, as a big group with the teachers and some parents). We all went walking to look for interesting things in Autumn. We found lots of leaves that had fallen from the trees, compared the bark on different trees, imagined what animals lived in trees and even saw some colourful bugs. It was all very interesting!

When we finished our investigations, we all went to Pirate Park for a play. Before we knew it, it was time to go back to kinder.

I have decided that excursions are fun and that we should have nature excursions all the time.

Nitty Gritty Super City

Hooray, it is back. After being closed forever, the Nitty Gritty Super City at Scienceworks has been reopened and it is heaps better.

All of the really good stuff is still there - the digger, the construction site, the building wall and bridge and all the weight stuff, but now there is even more ace stuff to explore. We found a ship that needed to have it's cargo loaded, a cafe to make lattes and baby cinos, a recycle plant and even more giant creepy crawlies. It was fantastic!

When the Super City became too hectic, we went outside to have a picnic and enjoy the sunshine. It was such a lovely day that we played outside for ages. We did make sure that we had plenty of time to explore the Sportsworks and the new Mathamazing exhibits.

It is amazing the things you can learn when you go to Scienceworks.

I didn't know that becoming smart could be so much fun.

Some of my friends came to Scienceworks too!

Visiting Primary Schools - part 3

Well I went to visit my third primary school today - Kensington Primary School, the school that is just up the road from my house.
I was a little bit nervous, I had to meet the principal (and I haven't even started school yet)! Luckily he was a really nice bloke called Mark and he took me on a tour of the school to show me some of the really cool things they do at school.
I was allowed to sit with the preppies and grade oners when their teacher read them a book. I saw the plans for the new super-duper playground equipment that they will build for me. I also found out about the music program and now I can't decide if I want to play violin, drums, guitar or play the saxaphone like my dad said he did. Too many dilemmas.
Another really big decision I have to make is should I ride my bike to school or should I catch the 'Walking School Bus' to go to school next year? How weird is that - a 'Walking School Bus'?
I am really glad that I liked Kensington Primary. My Kinder class is going to have some practice school days later in the year and the teachers have already asked me to come back and visit the class any time, just to make sure that I really like school. I can't wait!

(the almost school kid)
PS - I didn't let mum take any photos of me at school today as I imagine that we will swamp you with heaps of school photos in the decade to come!

ROAR
Today we went to see the Lion King.
It was a special Mother's Day treat that the whole family could enjoy.
We were so excited that today was finally the day and that there were no more sleeps before we could go and see Simba, that we woke up extra early. We waited until our clock said 7 o'clock before we came downstairs. Dad came downstairs with us so we could let mum have a sleep in for her special day.
Finally mum came downstairs and we were able to give her her presents. They were really good presents, but we will tell you more about them another day.
We were too excited to eat lunch, even though it was really yummy. Eventually it was time to go. We caught the train in to the city. AJ took Jack the Super Ted from kinder with him. After a few minor emergencies, we made it to the theatre with no time to spare.
The show was amazing. There were animals everywhere, and not only on the stage, they walked up and down the theatre. AJ's favourite part was when the hyenas chased Simba and Nala through the elephant graveyard but Milli didn't like the scary bits. She liked the ending when Simba had a cute little baby to show everyone.
It was a fantastic show and we think that when we are big kids we will sing and dance on stage and everyone can come and watch us and cheer.

More Schools

Well I have been to another school to see if it would be a good place for me to go when I am in prep next year. This time I went to Ascot Vale Primary School and it was so much fun. Heaps of the kids remembered me from when I went there to visit Ellen, when I was a little kid. The big kids were heaps of fun to play with, and they all remembered who I was, they even remembered Milli!
Ascot Vale Primary is my favourite school so far - they have a rabbit in the classroom, have stacking cup competitions and play in rock bands on the radio - it was so cool. If I went to school there, I would have a buddy to help me, and maybe the buddy could be someone that I already know.
I wish that Ascot Vale Primary was closer to Kensington, mum says that it is too far to walk to Ascot Vale. I hope that when I go and visit Kensington Primary next week that it is as much fun as Ascot Vale.
Love AJ Pickle
If Milli went to Ascot Vale Primary, she would want Isabelle to be her buddy.

Famous People

Do you remember my friend Paula, the famous one who is a princess who won Miss Gay Universe? Well not only is she a beauty queen, but she is a famous impersonator. On Friday she is doing a Cher Show at a club in Melbourne. Mum and dad are really excited because they are going to see the show. They said that I am too little to go to a club so I will have to watch a video of the show online at www.ozchershow.com.
Maybe when I am a little bit bigger, perhaps when I am three, I can see one of Paula's shows. I am going to go to ballet next year, so maybe I can even be a famous dancer with Paula and mum can make costumes for me as well as Paula.

Cheeky Monkey

Did you know that I am really a monkey? I can climb really really really high, way up to the top of the tree. I climbed so high that Amelia couldn't reach me, even when she was sitting on Paula's shoulders and reaching really far!
I think Milla might be a bit of a monkey too, she liked to climb the tree, but she couldn't climb as high as me. That is probably because she is a girl and she wore a dress and boots - those are clothes that are much better for jumping in puddles and not for climbing trees!

I think that I will have to go to Amelia and Zach's park again, there was so much cool stuff to climb on - playground equipment, big canons and guns as well as monkey trees! It was so cool.

YUM - more chocolate!

My friends Ella and Taylah came to visit today. We made chocolate muffins to eat for dessert.

After we overflowed the muffin tray, we ate all of the extra mixture - YUM!

I love chocolate almost as much as playing with my friends.

PS - Poor AJ decided that he was too sick and he fell asleep before Ella and Taylah arrived and didn't wake up until after they all went home. AJ made mummy sick, and then I was sick and now daddy is sick too. Girls must be stronger than boys cos the girls are all better and the boys are still sick! I know that they are still sick because they keep telling me that they are sick!

Go girls!

My Sickie

I had my first ever sick day today and I stayed home from kinder.

Mum says that it doesn't count as a real sickie because I really was sick. Now I don't know what is more fun; going to kinder to play with my friends or having a sick day and going to music with Milla and resting on the couch watching movies. I think that kinder is probably more exciting, and healthier too - I don't really like feeling yucky.

Cool Cars

My friend Ellen in gin-Japan sent me a photo of her favourite car.

It is a pretty cool car, but I really like this car that I saw last weekend when I went to see a Comedy Festival gig in Footscray.

I think that if Skaifey's car was this shiny, it would go even faster!

Fairy Fun

Today, after we went to story time at the libraray, we went to Ella and Taylah's house for a play. We had so much fun that we stayed there all day.
Did you know that we must be really good friends because we like all of the same things. We all love ponies, fairies, princesses and doing ballet. When we are all 3, we can go to ballet classes, until then we just do our own dancing in dress ups!

This is my friend Taylah, she is a princess too.

Rabbit Park

We had a special visitor today, Princess Georgia. She had her mum take her for a very, very long drive, all the way to our house just so she could watch us play. Little Georgia was having so much fun watching us, that she didn't really want to have a sleep.
Instead of waiting for Georgia to go to sleep, we all went for a walk to Rabbit Park. Not long after we got to the park, Georgia fell asleep. She missed all the excitment of exploring, picking olives and collecting autumn leaves. We had lots of fun. Maybe next time Georgia visits, she will be big enough to stay awake and go exploring with us too.
